In former times, Branded versions of these lamps were known in the trade as PLC4P, Biax-DE, Lynx-DE, Dulux-DE and Ralux-Duo/E. CFL lamps were recognised as being very energy efficient and had a rated average life time of between 8000-15000 hours. LED versions offer significantly more than this making them even more efficient and unlike CFL lamps they require no warm up time, because they are instant switch on. Perhaps their biggest advantage is the fact they are about half the power of CFL lamps, it’s a massive saving with the cost of electric, and who will not want to enjoy that.
The LED lamps are hard wired directly to the mains electric supply. Care should be taken if replacing old CFL lamps over to these LED ones. They should be disconnected from the old CFL ballast (which is then redundant) and hard wired correctly to the mains supply (100-277VAC).
